was just going for a lovely drive in the ST when changing from 1st> 2nd there was a clunk, stall and silence..rolled to a halt.

upon further inspection my gearbox had a massive hole in it & bled itself to death along a stretch of road along with a sheared bolt that i found with a circlip on the 'good end'.

ive read and heard things about the diff being a weak spot on the ST but am i really one of the lucky winners?

tried to put some pictures up if anyone can guide me and break me in gently, as im only relying on a friends estimate and guys on here with similar problems.

looking at second hand boxes now, and quaife's too, this is gonna be more than a bag of sand - i can smell it..literally

i tend to just sneak about and read posts...lol

think thats the only other frequent issue that happens, usually a bolt inside breaks and shoots a hole through, I think......anyone ? Internal damage may or may not be bad.

Cheers guys, looks like i may be requiring a IB5 gearbox if anyone has a spare in there boot..with a quiafe...and clutch..fly wheel, fluid, seals, slave *tears start pouring* etc.
